Pipestone
Performing Arts Center presents . . .
An Evening at the Arts and “Ozark Jubilee,”
featuring
Country Standards, Comedy, Gospel & Bluegrass!
A little taste of Branson, MO. is coming to Pipestone Saturday, September 11, for the season opener — featuring country standards, comedy, gospel and bluegrass. The beginning of our 2011 Season opens with “An Evening at the Arts” at 6:30, with light hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and wine and beer served in the lobby catered by Steve and Peggy Lange of Lange’s Cafe and Bakery, and then the show “Ozark Jubilee” at 8:00 pm. “Ozark Jubilee” will be the kick-off Fundraiser at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center and feature comedian/champion fiddler player “Doofus” Doolittle. “One review describes ‘Doofus’ as a cross between Hee Haw and Larry the Cable Guy,” an Ozark Jubilee news release said. “In the second half of the show ‘Doofus’ throws off the hillbilly hat and a tie comes out as alter ego Randy Newman in one of his $5,000 custom tailored suits by Manuel of Nashville.” Manuel designs and tailors suits for all the major Nashville acts such as Tim McGraw, Porter Wagoner, Roy Clark and Alan Jackson. Newman is a “world-class” violinist who has established himself as such not only in Branson, but across the country, having performed with such acts as Ronnie Milsap, Jimmie Rogers, Johnny Rodriguez, Mel Tillis and more. After doing several shows with Wagoner, he invited “Doofus” to be a special guest on the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN. Others in the Ozark Jubilee show include Steve Ritchey, Tyler Hall (steel guitar) and Doug Driesel (bass guitar). Musical director of the group is Jory Clayton, who has been with the Ozark Jubilee for 10 years, playing the piano, keyboards, synthesizer and arranging music for the band. New vocalists include Richard Ebert of Nashville and Heather White of Branson, whose vocal range covers country music greats such as Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline and Martina McBride. “This is most likely the best all-around group I have ever assembled,” Newman said. Tickets are available at the Museum Box Office Monday thru Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. 825-2020 or 877 722-2787. The tickets are reserved and are $25 each for the gala event. Board members are selling advanced tickets, and they can be tracked down on the street. You can also get tickets at the Museum box office. Those wanting to see only the show can get tickets at $15 each for Adults and $5 for Students. All seats are reserved. Be sure to get your tickets in advance as this show is sure to be a sell-out!
